MARK OF LAMBRECHT VAN DER WOORD, VLISSINGEN, 1785
Shaped oblong with openwork skirt, with two pots and central ink-bottle with hinged cover, with further supports for a taperstick and a pair of snuffers, applied with cartouche cast with a cypher below a marquess' coronet, engraved with a coat-of-arms below a marquess' coronet, further engraved with two crests below a marquess' coronet, marked under stand, jars and ink-bottle

38 oz. (1,177 gr.)
The later arms are those of Grenville quartering Leofric, Temple, Brydges, Chandos and others impaling Campbell quartering Lorn and Stewart, for Richard Plantagenet Temple-Nugent-Brydges-Chandos-Grenville, as Marquess of Buckingham, later 2nd Duke of Buckingham and Chandos (1797-1861) and his wife Lady Mary, daughter of John, 1st Marquess of Breadalbane, whom he married in 1819.

The engraved arms date from between 1822, when his father was created Duke of Buckingham and he acquired the courtesy title Marquess of Buckingham, and the death of his father in 1839.
