For a plaque of the same form and size decorated with an interior scene, see Jan Daniël van Dam, Delffse Porceleyne, Dutch delftware 1620-1850 (Amsterdam, 2004), p. 186, no. 134. The maritime scene is most probably derived from the engravings of Adriaan van der Laan; for maritime plates derived from his engravings, see Marion S. van Aken-Fehmers and Loet A. Schledorn, Delfts aardewerk, Geschiedenis van een nationaal product (Den Haag, 2001), pp. 239-240.
