See Lot 161, May 13, 2009, for an embroidery of the same subject, signed Kato. Kato Rihei (1847-1986) came from a silk merchant family in Owari provenance, now called Aichi Prefecture. He carried out commissions for the Imperial Household during the Meiji period (1868-1912).
