Yakov Seriakov (b. 1818), born in the village of Kholopovo in Soligalichskii district, moved with his family to St. Petersburg, where in 1839 he was sent at government expense to the Academy of Arts. Seriakov received several important commissions in the 1840s and saw the most productive period of his career in the 1850s.

Works in ivory by Seriakov are preserved in the Hermitage Museum, St. Petersburg, and in the Hillwood Museum, Washington, D.C.
