Designed as a gold link necklace, joined by variously shaped bezel-set cameos and intaglios, including a chalcedony intaglio with the head of a bearded Olympian; an agate cameo with a bird in flight; an agate cameo with a lion; a Roman banded agate intaglio, circa 1st century B.C., with a winged griffin walking to the left, on a groundline; a Roman garnet intaglio, circa 1st century B.C., with Menelaus carrying the dead body of Patroklos; an agate cameo with the bust of a youth; a glass intaglio with a pheasant in flight through a forest, pursued by a hound; a sardonyx intaglio of a nude youth holding a butterfly tied with a string in one hand, a branch in the other, a snake at his feet; a Roman banded agate intaglio, circa 1st century B.C., with two warriors on either side of a column, one to the left opening a vase, his sword tied to the column, one to the right fully armed, enclosed within a hatched border; an agate cameo with a draped bust of a youth; a garnet intaglio with Diomedes carrying the palladion; a Roman banded agate intaglio, circa 1st century B.C., with Kassandra embracing the palladion, with fully-armed Ajax standing over her, enclosed within a hatched border; a Roman banded agate intaglio, circa 1st century A.D., with a bust of Eros; a carnelian cameo with two animals, one with its head turned back; and a banded agate intaglio with the heads of a goat and a ram, mounted in yellow and rose gold, early 19th century, 18½ ins., in a fitted case with Duke of Wellington Collection plaque
