Described as 'Lotto' because of their prevalence in the paintings of the Venetian artist Lorenzo Lotto (1480-1556), this group represents the most iconic pieces of classical Anatolian weavings. Given their presence in the works of other European artists, these rugs clearly commanded a strong export market and were prized by wealthy art patrons.
