The present obelisk was a prototype commissioned by The Marquess Cholmondeley for the Walled Garden at Houghton Hall, Norfolk. The five acre walled garden was a collaborative project between the Bannermans and David Rocksavage who undertook the restoration and rejuvination of both the 18th century house and gardens at Houghton. In 2008 the garden was voted HHA "Garden of the Year".
