The scroll in rectangular form, exquisitely embroidered in satin stitch and detailed with couch stiched outlines, on a cream-yellow satin ground to depict a mountain-water landscape with a two-tiered pavilion raised on a high terrace at the mid-distance, set on one side of a mountain slope, the near distance with a single crane standing on jagged rocky boulder surrounded by rolling waves, its head turned to observe in the far distance three further cranes in flight, above tall mountains, each crane bearing a tally in its beak
