A MASSIVE CLOISONNE ENAMEL AND GILT-BRONZE CIRCULAR BOX AND COVER
QIANLONG PERIOD (1736-1795)

The cover finely decorated with pairs of deer and cranes in a landscape, under the shade of a large fruiting peach tree, augmenting an imagery of longevity, encircled within a gilt-metal medallion, the rounded sides with four quatrefoil panels each framing one of the flowers of the four seasons, chrysanthemum, peony, prunus and lotus, the panels are divided by gilt-metal repousse dragons and champleve clouds in openwork, the box similarly decorated, the interiors of the base and cover with further formal medallions reserved on a cracked ice-ground with scattered flower-heads and leaves
