La Création du monde, ballet composé par Darius Milhaud en 1923, puise sa source dans les contes africains de tradition orale compilés par Blaise Cendras en 1921. Les dessins présentés ici constituent des études préparatoires au décor réalisé par Fernand Léger, véritable hommage à l'art primitif.
La première de ce spectacle eut lieu au Théâtre des Champs-Elysées le 25 octobre 1923, et fut interprétée par les Ballets Suédois.
La Création du Monde, a ballet composed by Darius Milhaud in 1923, takes its inspiration from the African stories passed down through oral tradition and compiled by Blaise Cendras in 1921. The drawings presented here are preparatory studies for the set designed by Fernand Léger in homage to primitive art.
