A SET OF TWELVE GEORGE III SILVER DINNER-PLATES
MARK OF PAUL STORR, LONDON, 1808
Circular and with gadrooned border, engraved with a coat-of-arms, each marked underneath
9¾ in. (25 cm.) diam.
263 oz. (8,188 gr.)
The arms are those of Rowley with Dawson in pretence, as borne by Sir William Rowley K.B. (d.1768) and his wife Arabella, daughter and heir of Thomas Dawson Esq. (d.1705), whom he married before 1729. Sir William was a distinguished naval commander and was Admiral of the Fleet. The dinner plates were almost certainly commissioned by his grandson Sir William Rowley 2nd Bt. (1761-1832), the arms being engraved to match an existing service, by Edward Feline, 1747, five dinner-plates of which were sold Christie's New York, 29 April 1986, lot 127. (12)
注意事项
No VAT will be charged on the hammer price, but VAT at 15% will be added to the buyer's premium which is invoiced on a VAT inclusive basis.
