A FRENCH ART DECO GOLD-MOUNTED NEPHRITE GRANDE SONNERIE DESK CLOCK WITH ALARM
CARTIER, PARIS, CASE NO. 9356, MOVEMENT NO. 2308. CIRCA 1925
CASE: punch numbered '9356' to the rear upper rail and with French eagle's head assay mark to the lower right side rail, gilt-silver and black enameled border to the front glass
DIAL: rectangular silvered and painted Roman dial signed 'CARTIER' (rubbed) on plain cartouche to the engine-turned centre, gilt-silver and enamel fleur-de-lys main hands and blued steel alarm hand
MOVEMENT: with twin going barrels, cut bimetallic balance to silvered platform and striking the hours, quarters and alarm on two gongs, the back plate punch numbered '2308', with original numbered ('2309') winding key
TRAVEL CASE: in gilt-tooled red leather and stamped 'CARTIER/LONDON 175 NEW BOND ST./PARIS 13 RUE DEL A PAIX/NEW YORK 653 5TH AVENUE' to the lid lining
