The design found on the present cup appears to be based on Chenghua prototypes. Compare two Chenghua-marked examples of the same shape and decoration illustrated in Catalogue of the Special Exhibition of Ch'eng-Hua Porcelain Ware, National Palace Museum, Taipei, 2003, pp. 184-5, nos. 192-3. It is interesting to note that the interiors of the Chenghua cups are decorated with a double vajra and Sanskrit characters, while the interior of the current cup is left undecorated.
