Modeled standing foursquare on a rectangular base, the grooved neck arched, the head pulled in slightly and ears alertly pricked in opposite directions, attractively glazed with cream and green accent splashes on the forehead and hoofs

The result of Oxford Authentication thermoluminescence test no. C105k42 is consistent with the dating of this lot.
A very similar horse of comparable size (61 cm. high) covered with a chestnut glaze, from the collection of Count de Grunne, was included in the exhibition, The Ceramic Art of China, Oriental Ceramic Society, London, 9 June - 25 July 1971, pl. 32, no. 47.
