Depicting a large palace with various groups of people including ladies, musicians and a ruler with his attendants, surrounding the palace a lush landscape with trees filled with monkeys, pigeons, squirrels, peacocks, and a group of soldiers approaching with two elephants from the right of the composition, on the left two men are engaged in a wrestling match and a European conducts a band, minor creasing and flaking of paint, mounted on card

This miniature depicts the celebration of the food festival (chhapan bhog) organised by Raja Chhatarsal 1st (installed in 1758), in honour of the Lord Brijnath Ji. It is set in the Chhatarvilas Palace of Kotah.
Chhatarsal of Kotah is also depicted in a miniature in the collection of Kunvar Sangram Singh of Nawalgarh, which is dated 1764 (Milo Cleveland Beach, Rajput Painting at Bundi and Kota, 1974, Fig. 89). Another, circa 1760, is in the Severance Millikan Collection, Cleveland (Beach, op. cit., fig. 82).
