Padmasambhava is one of the traditional founders of Buddhism in Tibet, and together with Yeshe Tsogyal and Mandarava, the three together are known as the "Three Principal Ones of Oddiyana." Shantirakshita and King Trisongdetsen, the other two founders of Tibetan Buddhism, are present in the lower center of this thangka.
