Christopher Norman Taylor (12 Mai 1928 - 18 Août 2008) Né à Toronto, Canada, Christopher Taylor part pour l'Angleterre, après avoir été diplômé de l'Université de Toronto, afin de réaliser sa véritable passion - une carrière dans le théâtre. En tant qu'acteur, il rencontra Frith Banbury, directeur et producteur réputé. Frith dirigea " The Velvet Shotgun " (1958) qui fut écrit par Christopher et des adaptations de " The Wings of the Dove " (1963) et " My Darling Daisy " (1970). Christopher était un hôte généreux qui organisait beaucoup de petits dîners amusants et qui hébergea beaucoup de visiteurs à Londres. Parmi eux Ruth McNicoll qui travailla à la Galerie Nationale d'Australie à Canberra et à qui il acheta la belle et ancienne statue Asmat (lot 245). Christopher collectionna aussi de l'art contemporain (il acheta son premier Hockney à l'exposition de fin de trimestre de l'artiste), des céramiques (avec une prédilection pour Bernard Leach) et de l'art Inuit aussi bien que de l'art africain. Born in Toronto, Canada, Christopher Taylor left for England after graduating from the University of Toronto to pursue his true love - a career in the theatre. As an actor he met Frith Banbury, a noted director and producer. Frith directed 'The Velvet Shotgun' (1958) which was written by Christopher, and adaptations by him of 'The Wings of the Dove' (1963) and 'My Darling Daisy' (1970). Christopher was a generous host who gave many stimulating small dinner parties, and provided shelter for a number of visitors to London. These included Ruth McNicoll who worked at the National Gallery of Australia, Canberra, and from whom he bought the fine early Asmat figure (lot) Christopher also collected contemporary art (he bought his first Hockney at the artist's end-of-term show), ceramics (with a partiality for Bernard Leach), and Inuit as well as African art
