Selon Biebuyck (Art of the Lega: Meaning and Metaphor in Central Africa, 1983, pp.54-55), les cuillères patinées avec soin suggèrent en général la pérennité et la continuité. Elles sont transmises de génération en génération et ne doivent pas être perdues ou détruites. Voir Cameron, E.L., Art of the Lega, Los Angeles, 2001, p.93, no.6.22 pour une cuillère très similaire.
