Clobbering together elements of a nostalgic 70s and 80s international pop culture, the retro vibes of Indonesian vintage comics & pulp illustration and the off-handedness of bahasa gaul (literally 'social language' but taken to mean informal Indonesian which is cool or trendy), Bambang 'Toko' Witjaksono's paintings recall a particularly blithe and romance-tingled world that is not unfamiliar to Generation X Indonesians growing up from the 1970s to the 1990s.
