Comprising a 'Four Elements' cup and saucer depicting 'Fire', the semi-eggshell porcelain enamelled with Jupiter holding a thunderbolt visiting Vulcanus, Venus arriving in her chariot above them, hairline rim cracks and minor chips; and a cup and saucer painted with Mars and Venus as lovers (4)

The scene of the 'Four Elements' cup and saucer is taken from engravings after a series of paintings by Francesco Albani (1578-1660) commissioned by Cardinal Maurice of Savoy representing 'The Four Elements', which are now in the Museum of Turin. A set of four plates representing Water, Earth, Fire and Air, is illustrated by G. C. Williamson, The Book of Famille Rose, London, 1970, pl. XXXIX.
