Tibet, 14th century
Finely cast with the wrathful protector striding in alidhasana over a prostrate figure on a double-lotus base with beaded rims, brandishing a sword in his right hand and holding the noose in his left, wearing a tiger skin dhoti, swirling sashes, a coiled snake around his chest, and jewelry inlaid with hardstones, his face in a fierce countenance with bared fangs and three eyes, his hair rising to a flaming bun, the face with remains of cold gold

This form of the deity Achala is important in the Kriya Tantra practice popularized by Atisha (982-1054), the founder of the Kadampa School, and by Lobpon Sonam Tsemo of Sakya (1142-1182).
