SECOND HALF 19TH CENTURY
The first pair embroidered with tigers in satin stitch and couched gold threads amidst auspicious objects and clouds worked in Peking knot, seated atop rocky outcrops above crashing waves and the lishui stripe, the second pair with front-facing qilin woven in the kesi technique with further auspicious objects and clouds and standing atop rockwork and crashing waves above the lishui stripe, the border and greyish-silk ground with metallic threads
