The Valckeniers were an important family in the Dutch China trade and ordered several services, of which this is the most elaborate. Adriaan Valckenier was Governor-General of the Indies 1737-41.

The center boldly colored with the arms of Valckenier beneath a shaded pink falcon crest, the well with flowering and fruiting vine in tones of gilt and the rim finely painted in grisaille with three different townscapes, including King William Gate at Cleves, between gilt and blue enamel lotus
