The ship Hawksdale was a steel ship built at Londonderry in 1890, and owned by P. Iredale & Porter of Liverpool. She was registered at 1,723 tons and made regular passages to Australia. She ran aground at Long Sands off Margate, England on January 28th 1899, bound from Hamburg to Melbourne.
