Roger Warner's grandfather Metford Warner (d.1930) owned the wallpaper manufacturing company Jeffrey & Co., and he revolutionised the British wallpaper industry by refusing to accept that the only source of original design was France, a belief reflected by public taste. Metford Warner employed Walter Crane, Owen Jones, Charles Eastlake, William Burges and Edward W. Godwin to produce designs for wallpapers.
