The triumphal arched panel celebrating the Water Element is designed in the 1770s 'antique' fashion as popularised by the Oeuvres, 1780-96 of R. de Lalonde. The reed-wreathed and flower-garlanded head of a river god issues from wave-scrolled baguettes of poetically laurelled acanthus.
