拍品专文

This drawing by Herman ten Kate depicts the sacking of the Town Hall in Alkmaar during the Eighty Year War. Ten Kate was specialised in military genre scenes with historical clothing. He must have been content with this particular watercolour since he also executed the same subject in oil without significant changes.
