The sitter was a daughter of Jean Royer and Sara Philippine Hoeufft (the sitter in the previous lot). She was portrayed 38 years later at the same age as her mother. It is obvious that Verheyden, by adopting the same style as in 1728, thus intended to create pendant portraits.
