Saint John the Baptist in a landscape, with the Preaching of Saint John and the Baptism of Christ beyond

To be compared with the picture of the Baptism of Christ, exhibited in Bruges and London, Gerard David, 1949, no. 35/22 respectively (photograph in the RKD) and with the picture of Saint Jerome in the John G. Johnson Collection, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (M.J. Friedländer, Early Netherlandish Painting, XI, no. 137a, 1974) Both pictures seem to be from the same hand as the present lot. The artist was probably active in Isenbrandt's studio.
