The Grecian-reeded dressing-table is likely to have been commisioned for Nostell Priory, Yorkshire from Gillow of Lancaster and London by Charles Winn (né Williamson) following his marriage in 1819. His name features in the firm's account book in March the following year.

A wash-stand and 'chamber writing-table' of this pattern were sold from Nostell Priory, Christie's house sale, 20 April-1 May 1990, lot 285.
