A Chinese Imari cistern and cover

Of architectural outline with a large biscuit lion sitting on top of the pagoda-roof cover, the applied corner brackets and the shaped base in iron-red enhanced in gilt, the front painted with a shaped panel of flowering peony within an ornamental border, on a ground of dense flower-scrolls, the sides painted with further flowering peony branches, the cornice moulded with mythical beasts and shou-roundels, each side with mythical beast-head and fixed ring handles, fitted with tap, damages and repair
