TWO TIRAZ FRAGMENTS, FATIMID, 11TH CENTURY
One a long band, the plain linen ground woven in coloured silks with a band of linked salmon-pink lozenges containing addorsed birds alternating with very similar scrolling designs, small green and blue triangles above and below, between meandering rope-pattern stripes, mounted, the second, similar, smaller, with central band of crimson lozenges each containing a bird--1 5/8 x 15in. (4.1 x 38cm.) and 1¾ x 6 5/8in. (4.3 x 17.2cm.) (2)
