The bearded god reclines on his left side, leaning on an overturned urn, the mouth of which is pierced through to the base, with a laden cornucopia resting in his left arm, an himation wrapped around his legs and draped up across his back and left shoulder, wearing a wreath in his long hair

Decorative sculptures of river gods were found all over the Roman Mediterranean world in both public spaces and private villas. They were often displayed in niches and used as fountain figures; the water would emerge from the mouth of the overturned urn.
