Comprising the 26th juz', Arabic manuscript on paper, 64ff. plus 4 fly-leaves, each folio with 5ll. of black muhaqqaq, gold rosette verse markers, and marginal drop-shaped and medallion khams and 'ashr markers, sura headings in gold thuluth outlined in black, opening folio with juz' number written in blue thuluth on gold ground within frames of geometric interlace issuing a medallion into the margin, some marginal repairs, areas of spotting and waterstaining, in later brown morocco with central gold floral spray

This juz' is very probably from the same Qur'an as another juz' in the Khalili Collection (David James, The Master Scribes, London, 1992, no. 37, pp. 154 and 156-57). James mentions that the illumination suggests that the manuscript came from a thriving centre of manuscript production but that it is unclear as to whether the centre in question was in the Iranian or Mamluk empire (James, op. cit., p. 154). The binding of the Khalili section and ours differs suggesting that if the two sections did originate from the same Qur'an, that they have been apart for some time.
