Edward C. Moore drew inspiration from the works of Katsushika Hokusai's Manga for his designs in the Japanesque taste. He purchased several copies of the work, two of which remain today in the Tiffany Archives. This applied fish appears on other Tiffany silver, including a flask illustrated in John Loring, Magnificent Tiffany Silver, 2001, illus. p. 45.
