"Fifteen notes. Despite some poor, doubtless badly cellared bottles, my favourite '34. So very Margaux. Yet, and yet, the decay of the '30s noted quite early, even in the mid-1950's, certainly by the early 1970s. But it soldiers on. Most recently at Wagner's first Margaux tasting in 1997: rich, biscuity bouquet - though faisandé. Sweet on the palate, assertive fruit, very tannic. Most recently, a richly flavoured bottle. Bouquet very attractive but just misses greatness. A high mark at Manfred Wagner's second Ch Margaux tasting, Nov 2000. At best **** MB, Vintage Wine
