Château Talbot
Bordeaux and England have had a profitable relationship since day one, with Bordeaux profiting in Pounds Sterling, and England profiting in liquid gold in the form of fermented grape juice. Due to the constant relationship over the years, there were bound to be a few English expats living by the Gironde. Before losing the Battle of Castillon in 1453, John Talbot, Earl of Shrewsbury, kept his headquarters at what is now Château Talbot, though there is some debate as to whether or not he actually owned the property. Two other families, those of the Marquis d'Aux and of Cordier, have had the most influence over the years. The 1937 Château Talbot is offered here, along with a wine from its neighbors, the 1922 Château Gruaud Larose and the 1928 Lagrange. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to taste three old vintage wines, all from St.-Julien, but from different classifications and vintages.
