ROUSSEAU

Armand Rousseau represents the form of the martial tread of Chambertin, and a property that has gone from strength to strength over the decades without many of the downturns experienced by other top proprieties. After his father's passing in 1959, Charles Rousseau maintained the property's consistency despite economic and climatic fluctuations. It is an education of what great wine is all about to taste the Chambertin and Chambertin, Clos de Beze, side by side from the same vintage. Both wines are super dense, finish very long and unwind in surprising tangents of complexity as they age in the bottle and air in the glass as well. Perhaps Rousseau's most distinctive and alluring wine is the Clos St. Jacques, with notes of green peppercorns and white chocolate.
