In contrast to Lot 1, this robust chair, although of similar comb-back and cabriole-leg form, characterises the West Country tradition with a heavily made saddle-shaped seat cut square to the front, short under-arm spindles pierce through the arm and the back has two spindles only either side of the central splat, a feature common to West Country Windsors, but virtually unknown in Thames Valley examples.
