Viscount Stormont, pre-deceased his father, the 4th Earl, on 12th October, 1893. Born in 1835, he joined the Grenadier Guards and served in the Crimea. He was appointed Colonel of the Perthshire Militia (later the Third Battalion of the Black Watch) in 1871. He stood for Parliament as a Constitutional candidate in the Election of 1892.
