William Atkinson's hand-drawn design for a very similar daybed can be seen in his 'Scone Sketches Furniture' held in the Scone Palace Family Archive.

The squab-cushioned Grecian sofa or chaise longue, with rail fretted with cusp-arched tablets, reflects the robust baronial antique gothic fashion adopted by the architect William Atkinson (d.1839) following his training in the offices of James Wyatt (d.1813). Another chaise longue that remains at Scone Palace and is displayed in Scone's Queen Victoria Suite is further enriched with Grecian palms wrapping the legs (J. Jauncey, Scone Palace, 2003, p.38).
