Designed as a pliqué-a-jour enamel scene of two swans on water, the surmount designed as diamond-set waterlilies, an iris and an oval sapphire, and supporting a drop-shaped grey pearl, circa 1900, 8.2 cm long, in grey leather fitted case by Koch, Frankfurt, Baden

Robert Koch (1852-1902) was a leading German jeweller working in both Frankfurt and Baden-Baden. Among his eminent patrons counted the Russian Tsars, and the Italian and German Royal Families.
Koch's designs closely followed the French Art Nouveau style, and this pendant was clearly inspired by the swan motifs favoured by René Lalique.
