The scrolled, deep-buttoned back with rosette terminals and part-padded, lotus-carved arms, the bolection moulded seat rails with panelled patera blocks on turned tapering legs with reeded brass capped castors.

A design for a similar sofa was published in T.King's Supplementary Plates to the Modern Style, 1840, which added additional plates to his 1829 The Modern Style of Cabinet Work Exemplified. King stressed that the gilded parts required carving only in gold scrolls and massive foliage. (See E.T Joy, Pictorial Dictionary of British 19th Century Furniture Design, Woodbridge, 1977, p.296.)
