De forme rectangulaire, reposant sur quatre petits pieds cabriole joliement sculptés de sphères aux extrémités, la ceinture en retrait, le tablier curviligne, le plateau composé d'un canage dans un cadre en bois, supporté par quatre traverses, deux incurvées au milieu et deux autres droites sur les côtés, le tout assemblé à tenons et mortaises
Dimensions : 45 x 208 x 115 cm. (17¾ x 82 x 45¼ in.)

The use of the daybed was manifold ; during the day, it served as a sitting platform ; at night a bed. For a general discussion on daybeds, see R. H. Ellsworth, Chinese Furniture: Hardwood Examples of the Ming and Early Ch'ing Dynasties, New York, 1971, pp. 90-1.
Examples of daybeds are unusual as only few pieces have survived.
