The Security Division logo on these patches was based on a symbol designed by Lee Cole for the first Star Trek movie. Nevertheless, in the Star Trek universe, Cole's logo was probably based on these patches, since "Home" in Star Trek: Enterprise took place over a century before Star Trek: The Motion Picture.
