The large censer of compressed form below a short waisted neck, standing on three cabriole feet, the underside with a square twenty-character mark, the bronze with a brownish-green patina with irregular gilt splashes

It is unusual to find a gilt-splashed bronze censer of this size, in particular from this period and also with a dedicatory mark to the base. They are more commonly found dating from the 17th and 18th century, generally with earlier Xuande marks from the Ming dynasty.
