Constructed of yellow pine with the drawer sides joined by large dovetails, this chest exhibits the practices of coastal Connecticut cabinetmaking during the early eighteenth century. The floral paint decoration, which is not contemporary to the chest, has scrollwork with squigglework similar to the painted designs of Robert Crossman (1707-1790) of Taunton, Massachusetts.
