Painted in underglaze-blue, iron-red and gilt by a central coat-of-arms surmounted by a helmet and leopard's mask, repeated on the four quarters of the rim, between ruyi panels connected by a garland of foliage, small rim chip restoration

The arms are those of the family Horsemonden. David Howard suggest the service was probably ordered by John Horsemonden who was second member of the Council at Canton in 1721, for his cousin Daniel Horsemonden (1691-1778) who emigrated to America.
