(1930-2005) Brought up in a family tradition of collection art and historic objects, G.A.H. Buisman bought his first oil painting at the age of sixteen. From then on, he regularly added to his growing collection of Seventeenth- to Nineteenth-Century works of art illustrating his wide interests. Just like his father, G.A.H. Buisman collected silver all his life and also he had a preference for the region of the family's origin, Overijssel. Many pieces of his collection have been exhibited in 'Glans langs de IJssel' in the city museums of Zutphen, Deventer, Zwolle and Kampen in 1999. Parts of the family's collections remain on permanent loan to museums. G.A.H Buisman considered social righteousness a gentleman's civic obligation and always remained the driving spirit behind the family's efforts in the fields of art and heritage. One of these initiatives is Maecenas World Patrimony Foundation in support of the conservation of "orphaned" art objects at the United Nations' offices. Examples are Marc Chagall's Peace Window at the UN Building in New York and Paul Manship's landmark Celestial Sphere at the Palais des Nations in Geneva. Part of the proceeds of these sales will be for the support of this effort. Please see: www.worldpatrimony.org. For an obituary of G.A.H. Buisman Jzn, please see www.gahbuisman.com
