The Saint is mounted on a white horse with a pearl-decorated saddle cloth and harness. He is dressed in military attire with a flowing cape and carries a long lance with a cruciform finial. The landscape is painted in natural, earthly colours and the sky is rendered in gold.
The inscription consisting of the word 'saint' and the name was firstly written in red. The original name was abraded and 'Menas' was written above it; whether initially the represented saint was identified as Menas or another equestrian saint is unclear. - 7 1/8 x 5 1/8 in. (18 x 13 cm.)
